After a lengthy dry spell with desperately low water, where a very few rods toiled in the crystal clear pools, the northern Pennines was deluged by rain on the 26th! A 5ft foot flood swept down the river and livened everything up! Today the river had dropped quickly to a terrific 1ft 7in and within minutes of arriving one rod landed a fine 18lb hen salmon from Madam’s pool and then later landed a 19lber from almost the same spot! Another rod had two salmon 14lb and 8lb and lost another two!

I think Lambley’s motto should be: Sicut aqua addere! (Just add water!).
